Routine for cleaning and maintaining spectacle among regular spectacle wearers

Background: The objective of the study was to evaluate routine for cleaning and maintaining eyewear among regular spectacle wearers.Methods: observation questionnaire-based conducted 170 students who has visited our university ophthalmology OPD. selected participants were asked response a pretested, pre validated questionnaire related via goggle form over period 6 months. written consent taken from each participant prior enrolled study.Results: total 170, 30% male 70% female with mean age 21.06±2.10 years. 39% using 2-5 63.53% prescribed correct refractive error. 90% responded that they used clean their glasses regularly. 61.76% wear by holding both hands. 45.29% remove at temple one hand which is wrong way. 44.12% when needed while 35.88% before use 20% after use.Conclusions: Inadequate knowledge about wearing/removal or handling techniques, cleansing maintenance found even in prolonged user. Proper instructions performance, repair follow up should be provided patient. Counselling optician, optometrist ophthalmologist time prescribing eyeglasses can possess better understanding eyeglass’s wearers.
